Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced billing coordinator to oversee all billing department operations for a fast-growing, multi-state startup telehealth medical practice, that specializes in Personal Injury patient care post-trauma. While being a certified coder is not required, familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, billing/coding/payment posting is desired.
Duties:
- Oversees all billing department operations.
- Creative input and solutions-based thinking to develop customized billing software while maintaining manual billing practices during development stages.
- Hires, onboards, and manages billing associates.
- Trains billing associates on departmental best practices.
- Creates all billing department policies and procedures.
- Investigates and resolves payment and billing issues.
- Works directly with patients, their legal representation, and auto insurance companies.
- Collaborates with other department leaders.
- Maintains confidentiality of all financial and personal information.
- Acts as the point of contact for other departments with billing related inquiries.
- Prepares reports and financial summaries to present to CEO and other department leaders.
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Maintain patient billing records and monitor patient accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and audits.
- Provide support to other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in medical billing procedures and guidelines.
- Experience in healthcare billing
- Experience in PIP insurance
- Experience in lein insurance / auto insurance
- Knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records, and medical collections.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Familiarity with EHR systems
- Proven experience in accounts receivable or related financial role.
- Experience with collections and customer service is a plus.
