The Brevard Humane Society is hiring a Pet Hotel/Doggy Daycare and Adoption Center Assistant Manager to assist in oversee a 3,000 square foot pet boarding, daycare facility and adoption center. The Assistant Manager is responsible for daily operations and assists in hiring for all aspects in daycare, boarding, grooming and adoptions. Must have 3 years of previous experience working professionally with dogs. Must have 3 years leading a team of 10+. We are a dog daycare and pet hotel facility, so it is necessary that the candidate possess the skill of reading dog body language in an off-leash daycare setting as we do a lot of play care at our facility. We will train, but a foundation of dog behavior and body language is essential. The Assistant Manager will oversee the workflow of staff responsibilities in all departments and lead a team to successfully take excellent care of the pets we are entrusted with while their pet parents are away.
Assistant Manager Description:
The assistant management position is responsible for assisting with all operational aspects of managing the pet facility inclusive of operations, sales, and customer service. Works closely with the Manager and Executive Director for operational accountability to achieve sales, service, organization, and customer satisfaction goals for the site in compliance with company procedures. Provides team leadership and ensures staff maintains facility cleanliness and dog health and safety standards. Upholds and grows facility reputation through client relationship building and forging business partnerships.
This important leadership role is responsible for maintaining accountability and safety for a team of up to 15 employees while running a facility of up to 45 dogs per day (and a limited number of cats/small pets), as well as a seamless execution in an operationally intense environment!
We are a fast-paced business and the candidate should be prepared to spend their day on his/her/their feet. Multi-tasking, maintaining organization, attention to a lot of details, time management, and holding staff accountable all while working in a fast-paced busy environment is crucial. The responsibilities of an assistant manager role include but may not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
1. Staff Management - Responsible for assisting with interviewing, training and development, scheduling, and coaching of team. Upholds accountability of team members daily to policies and procedures and regularly offers feedback to assist in team members overall growth. Must possess 3 years of staff management to include motivating staff, creating a positive team environment, staff discipline, and enforcing facilities policies and procedures.
2. Safety and Health - Maintain all safety and health procedures throughout the facility. Reports any concerns to the Manager and/or Executive Director and offers continuous training of the team in areas regarding the safe play of all dogs in our care. Keeps detailed records and notes of any potential health and/or safety issues. Offers conversations with clients concerning any potential issues with their dog. Assists in managing boarding and daycare cleaning and daycare tasks and is accountable for maintaining efficiency and accuracy of entire team during the day.
3. Administrative - Works directly with our clientele in the front office as needed in a reception capacity answering phone calls, scheduling, billing, delivering exceptional customer service, and achieving facility sales goals. Assists in proactively marketing the business to raise revenue and increase repeat clientele.
4. Customer Service & Presentation - Maintain organization in the facility and cleanliness standards of the entire team. Practices exceptional internal and external customer service consistently. Must have strong customer service skills!
5. Leads by Example - Maintains accountability and oversight of the facility and team seeking out ways to improve profitability and efficiency toward higher goals. This includes upholding the company values to the highest level of integrity.
6. Other- Frequent communication with the Manager and Executive Director in various contexts, and other key staff members. Comfortable completing daily checklists, logs, data entry and attention to detail. Accepts other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
· Have a minimum of 3 years of direct assistant management experience of a team of 10 or more employees.
· Have a genuine affinity for dogs; they are the center of our business!
· Have knowledge of basic dog behaviors and be willing and able to become an expert; attending play groups will occasionally be required.
· Possess strong verbal communication skills and the ability to train and develop teams; strong skills in organization, multi-tasking, and maintaining oversight.
· Demonstrate proven customer service skills. A passion for leading and coaching staff.

The Assistant Manager is a salary exempt-level position; hours worked per week are based on business volume and demand but may exceed 40 hours per week; weekend and holiday availability is a must.
