Job Summary
The Automotive Mechanic I will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. This role is based out of Dearborn, MI. Working hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM EST.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
- Repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replacing parts and components
- Reading, interpreting, and following service procedures
- Maintaining vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
- Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Participating in daily shop organization and clean-up
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Must have your own tools and a rolling tool box
- Mechanical ability and ability to operate shop equipment
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Own tools with rolling toolbox
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
- 2 years of mechanical experience
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
- State Mechanic Certification(s)
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers
