JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Physical Therapist provides, with some supervision, top quality care by performing, assessing, and interpreting evaluations and test results to restore patient’s functions. The Staff Physical Therapist alleviates pain and prevents disabilities by planning/creating and administering medically necessary physical therapy treatments as outlined by California State Practice Act. This position may also conduct consultations or refer to prescriptions provided by consulting physicians.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
The Staff Physical Therapist (PT) will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
Determines appropriate patients for PTAs to treat, with expected handover of 50% of patient caseload.
Identifies gaps in knowledge or treatment application of PTAs under PT supervision, and addresses appropriately with Owner, and PTAs.
Assists all patients accomplish treatment plans through their use of manual therapy techniques, appropriate exercise prescription including use of Pilates based treatment when appropriate, therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activities, neuromuscular reeducation, gait training, and modality use as appropriate.
Evaluates and records patient’s progress and modifying or updating treatment plan if required.
Evaluates the use and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and observing patient’s progress; and recommending adjustments and modifications when appropriate.
Documents patient care services appropriately, adequately, concisely, and in keeping with all Clinic, State and Federal guidelines.
Instructs patients in proper in-home exercises and therapies.
Educates patients and their families about the recovery process and the challenges they will face.
Communicates with physicians, case managers, and all other appropriate parties regarding patient care.
Reports to the Owner and meets regularly with her to provide status reports and engage in the process of strategic planning related to the position.
Maintains production objectives by noting current treatment trends and monitoring actual physical therapy services rendered to production objectives.
Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Most importantly, the Staff Physical Therapist will maintain a positive and compassionate working relationship with their co-workers and patients.
Full time Physical Therapists will be scheduled for 34 direct patient treatment hours, weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
The person in this position must be outgoing, warm, friendly, able to keep composure during critical times, able to blend in with staff and patients, and able to formulate a new direction quickly when the need arises by being a problem solver and be able to communicate with all personality types.
The Staff Physical Therapist must have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and be service-oriented.
Be able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
Have a pleasant bed-side manner, good persuasive skills, and persistence when confronted with difficult and trying patients.
Motivational and outstanding time management skills.

Computer Experience in MS Office or comparable programs, website navigation, ability to create charts, graphs, reports as required by the position.
Ability to learn new industry related software to document treatments of patients.

Instructing and teaching skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of CA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of one (1) year of Physical Therapy experience.
- Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Standards.'
