Clear tuberculosis (TB) screen
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or higher in any field.
- 1 year of experience working with adult (18 or older) individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (preferred).
- This experience can include paid employment, volunteer experience, and/or being a family caregiver of an adult with an intellectual and/or developmental disability.
- If you have previously provided direct care to a different population and some percentage of the individuals you served had intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, you may be able to demonstrate the equivalence of a year of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to meet the individual needs of the ESCNJ ACS Program participants.
- Ability to supervise ESCNJ ACS Program participants safely and recognize potential safety hazards.
- Ability to think clearly and use good judgement in ordinary – and especially in emergency situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with participants and ESCNJ ACS Program staff.
- Should possess the following personality traits: dependable, considerate; flexible, sense of humor; a hard worker conscientious, patient; responsible and honest.
- State, Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry check at the time of hire.
- Successfully complete trainings required by the Division and Program before rendering services.
Job Goal: The ESCNJ ACS Program - Direct Aide Employee shall assist the Direct Care Professionals and Administration with oversight and management of the ESCNJ ACS Program participants.
Evaluation: One evaluation after 90-day probationary period then one annually
Responsibilities:
The ESCNJ ACS Program Direct Aide employee is responsible for:
- Assisting the Direct Care Professionals and Administration with and participate in all daily activities of the ESCNJ ACS Day Program, and other activities as assigned and necessary.
- Know the whereabouts of all ESCNJ ACS Program participants at all times.
- Assist ESCNJ ACS Program participants in emergency procedures such as fire drills, lockdown drills, etc.
- Follow any emergency procedures in place.
- Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all ESCNJ ACS Program participants and staff.
- Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the ESCNJ ACS Program participants.
- Report any accidents or incidents to the ESCNJ ACS Program Direct Care Manager/Supervisor and ESCNJ ACS Program Executive Director immediately, and fill out an accident/incident/EIR form if necessary.
- Attend all ESCNJ ACS Staff meetings and training sessions, both on- and off-site.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to communicate and work with the ESCNJ ACS Program Direct Care Professionals, Direct Care Manager/Supervisor, the ESCNJ ACS Program staff and ESCNJ ACS Program participants of all ages.
- Ability to observe ESCNJ ACS Program participants’ behavior, assess it appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety.
- Follow regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior and management techniques.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to activities.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct activities to achieve maximum participant skill development.
- Physical ability and strength to respond appropriately to situations requiring CPR/First Aid.
- Physical ability and strength to physically control a participant from hurting him/herself and others.
- Assist ESCNJ ACS Program Participants when necessary with toileting; etc. as may be necessary.
- Be familiar and in compliance with all information in the NJ DDD Standard for Adult Day Programs and the ESCNJ ACS Program Employee Handbook.
- Be accountable for all equipment and use it in a responsible manner.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Salary: $35,000yr
