The Opportunity
We are looking for a qualified Assistant Controller to join the team and potentially grow into the Controller position. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will take on primary responsibility for completing the organization’s daily accounting functions, including cost containment, payables, billing, treasury, payroll, and reporting. Additionally, contributes to the development and maintenance of financial reporting, planning and budgeting, and reporting from NetSuite. Prepares and assists in periodic reporting and required legal filings in our domestic and international locations. Ensures that all internal controls and accounting policies are well documented and followed by the organization. Involved in resolving complex issues arising from operations and requires significant coordination with other departments.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Performs month-end closing and billing to customers
- Utilizes our NetSuite Accounting System to close months and consolidate financial statements.
- Works with local and international tax entities to ensure all statutory requirements.
- Evaluate and investigate variances in reporting.
- Assists with self-reporting of Sales and Use Tax liability and monthly return submission.
- Reconciles budgets and prepares financial reports at defined intervals for management.
- Assists in the budgeting and forecasting processes by collaborating with department heads.
- Ensures all accounting practices are compliant with legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
- Aids in the year-end audit process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5 years of experience in accounting
- Strong knowledge of NetSuite
- Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other accounting software programs
- Desire to be part of a company experiencing high growth and upgrading processes
- Collaboration and teamwork skills
- Experience in public accounting or experience in the technology industry is preferred
- CPA or Master’s degree is preferred
