The QuikTrip Petroleum department is now accepting applications for a Biofuels Supply & Trading Manager to work in the Corporate Office in Tulsa, OK.
This position is responsible for leading the biofuel supply activities for the company; provide reliable, competitively priced biofuels to all markets in which QT blends. Improve cost of product delivered to stores by managing the basis risk and price risk associated with the purchasing and hedging of biofuel. Build and maintain advantageous relationships with suppliers, transportation (railroad, trucking companies) and governmental officials. This position will report to the Petroleum Supply & Trading Manager.
The requirements for this position include:
- College Degree (Accounting, Economics, Math, Finance or Business preferred).
- 5 years in analytical position or relevant QuikTrip experience.
- Negotiating, analytical, and communication skills, advanced computer skills, especially with respect to spreadsheets.
The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. but may vary according to projects and deadlines. The minimum starting salary for this position can be up to $119,300-$149,100 per year, depending on related experience and qualifications.

Major functions for this position:
1. Effectively manage direct report employees
- Develop the staff and help each member grow to full potential in their respective position.
- Ongoing effort to position the right person in the right job.
- Praise, reprimand and counsel employees appropriately.
- Establish rapport with all direct-report employees and be available for counseling (career, problems, questions, etc.).

- Ensure direct report employees adhere to all QuikTrip policies and procedures, operating practices and/or mandated regulations and laws.

- Promote personnel efficiency, production and scheduling cost effectively.
2. Lead the biofuel supply activities:
- Develop and implement supply portfolios for each market.
- Work closely with Petroleum Supply & Trading and Supply and Distribution teams to identify biofuel needs in each market.
- Identify trading and supply opportunities by analyzing historical relationships and current supply demand balance.
- Lead daily supply decisions to optimize rack versus bulk supply.
- Ensure each market is adequately supplied with product.
- Negotiate and execute contracts for purchase/sale.
- Manage price and basis positions with respect to risk exposure.
- Determine storage requirements, negotiate and execute contracts for space ensuring all strategic needs are covered.
- Investigate new products and supply opportunities and stay abreast of all federal/state regulations and governmental legislation.
- Generate and execute speculative trade positions. Manage positions daily according to each strategy’s parameters and QuikTrip guidelines.
- Provide QuikTrip’s Operations team with information adequate to make retail sales decisions regarding biofuels (including the use of cold flow improvers.
- Negotiate and manage rates and incentives with railroads.
- Represent the company externally and maintain an extensive network of 3rd party contacts ensuring supply options for stores.
- Attend industry functions and maintain a professional representation of QuikTrip.
- Manage transportation options for the movement of biofuels.
3. Lead the biofuel RIN activities:
- Responsible for market point of view and trading of RINs.
- Manage daily positions within QuikTrip guidelines.
- Generate and execute speculative trade positions.
4. Participate in the design and implementation of enhancements to systems and processes as they relate to improved efficiencies in the biofuels area of the business. Maintain and continue to develop expertise in the manufacturing, costing, and transportation of ethanol, biodiesel, DEF and cold flow improvers.
5. Develop, implement, manage and execute strategic plans for biofuels.
6. Participate in defining risk limits for biofuels.
7. Generate new business ideas, provide ROI’s, lead research team and/or serve as a subject matter expert on department projects.
