The PRE/OR/PACU Registered Nurse is a key member of the surgical team. Strong detail orientation and multi-tasking skills are essential in our fast-paced, high-volume environment, as a Perioperative, Ophthalmologic Registered Nurse. This ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while providing safe and efficient care for all patients during the PRE/OR/PACU phases is imperative. The qualified candidate will be successful in performing the following responsibilities:
- Greets and admits patients to the Pre/Post area
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in an efficient manner using the nursing process while taking individual patient needs into consideration
- Obtains patient history through interviews and evaluations, noting data in chart and sharing pertinent information with surgeon
- Starts IV's, gives PO and Intravenous and prepares medications per surgeon orders
- Administers medications per physician order prior to laser procedures
- Prepares for and manages immediate post-operative care, communicates patients needs, and provides patient and family discharge teaching
- Ensuring that surgical asepsis is adhered to during the surgical procedure
- Completing all intra-operative nursing care
- Evaluates, observes, and treats patients under conscious sedation, local, and general anesthesia
The ideal candidate must be a team player, enthusiastic, and flexible to meet case volume needs. Day Shift with variable hours depending on case volume. No weekends/overnights/call.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program. BSN preferred
Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses preferably
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Current and valid New Hampshire Nursing License
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support or willingness to obtain with 90 days of hire
