POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Institute for Public Health by conducting research, developing meaningful data reports and synthesizing information to advance public health and health equity. This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and transforming research and data into information that will inform strategy development and execution within Bexar County. This position requires a strategic thinker who will be monitor and provide recommendations on the indicators of community conditions and social determinants of health. The Senior Analyst must be knowledgeable about research design and publicly available data sources related to population health and community conditions and be able to compile and report both primary and secondary quantitative and qualitative data in a concise and clear format. This position will focus on developing data products that utilize and integrate various datasets with analytical and statistical programs including ArcGIS, Excel, and/or Stata.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors’ degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, health administration, public health, geography, or related field is required, with a minimum of 3 years of related experience. Master’s degree is highly preferred. Strong knowledge and experience with Geographic Information Systems, reporting or analytics packages including ArcGIS, Stata, and/or Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn new analytical tools highly preferred. Prior experience working with publicly-available datasets and Epic Cogito reporting platform is also preferred. Must demonstrate adaptability, decision-making, customer focus, and problem-solving skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
