A truck dispatcher is tasked with setting up routes, scheduling deliveries, or shipments that are conducted by truck; they work hand in hand with truck drivers. They maintain communication with customers, record shipment details, ensure pick-up times, and discuss any other issues. The dispatcher is also responsible for tracking delivery trucks to ensure that goods arrive on time and undamaged.
Major Responsibilities:

Answer calls from customers requesting orders, questions related to products and deliveries, and responding to issues with deliveries as they arise

Coordinate and manage the necessary manpower to meet customer needs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

Supervise the route and locations of drivers to prioritize and maximize the efficiency their daily schedule

Update daily dispatch log for scheduled loads as well as any load changes that occur

Complete a three-way match between driver paperwork, ticket received and scheduled dispatch to ensure ticket accuracy (i.e. bill to, location, tonnage, etc.) within accounting system

Maintain documentation on assigned drivers as it relates to vacation days, missed loads, site issues, etc.

Maintain documentation of customer complaints, loading location issues, and other important information in order to educate drivers to prevent future delivery issues
