Position Summary
As a sales-oriented organization, the company's Processing CAD Specialist serves as a key member of the organization’s customer service team; specifically supporting the value-added fabrication/processing business. The Processing CAD Specialist will work in conjunction with the inside sales team to obtain customer designs and/or order specifications; ensuring all technical aspects are met to the customer requirements.
The Processing CAD Specialist will also support sales tasks, which could include but are not limited to, handling customer order calls, negotiating pricing and/or quoting, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and safety prioritization.
- Ensure that quality standards are met; champion quality ownership of work center.
- Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures; communicate concerns with division management and/or Corporate.
- Assist Technical Services Manager with day-to-day CAD requests/processing orders. These would primarily be focused on division customers however could also include some special orders/requests from other ASA divisions.
- Analyze customer/engineering requests – such as diagrams, schematics, layouts, multi-view, and various drawings.
- Scale and tailor drawings using a computer aided drafting system.
- Determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
- File drawings and maintain catalogs of CAD/drawing data.
- Aid in creating routine design layouts and detailed drawings of products.
- Assist in compiling materials and specification sheets.
- Assist with dimensions and annotates routine drawings.
- Assist with any other assigned duties that are given by a member of the ASA management team.
- Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the division and/or corporate management team.
Position Requirements
Education
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent such as a GED, is required.
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree is highly preferred.
- Technical school and/or practical experience is highly preferred.
Experience/Core Competencies
- Minimum of 1-2 years of CAD drawing experience preferred.
- Experience with design programs such as AutoCAD, ProNest, Fusion 360, Inventor, Solidworks Plus, Steel Projects, and ShopDataSystems/Parts 2 Plus highly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing organization preferred.
- Ability to work independently and be part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a strong mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand customer prints, drawings, and models.
- Be self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks.
- Proactive, solutions oriented.
- A quick learner and ability to communicate with a diverse clientele group.
- Good presentation skills and ability to communicate concisely.
- High energy, positive attitude, proactive problem solver.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Ability to maintain coordinated manual dexterity with mental and visual attentiveness for sustained periods of time.
- Have good depth perception and color discrimination.
