Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as an SBC Engineer or similar role in a telecommunications or VoIP service provider environment.
Strong understanding of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), SIP trunking, RTP/RTCP, and other VoIP protocols.
Hands-on experience with leading SBC platforms such as Oracle SBC, Cisco CUBE, AudioCodes Mediant, Sonus SBC,
etc.
Experience with network routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and IP addressing.
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting VoIP gateways, SIP proxies, and related telecommunications
equipment.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex network and voice service issues.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security
Professional (CISSP), or vendor-specific SBC certifications.
Experience with cloud-based SBC solutions and virtualization technologies.
Knowledge of telecommunications regulations and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with network performance monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Architecture: Design and architect Session Border Controller solutions based on business and technical
requirements. Develop scalable and resilient SBC configurations to support voice and video communication services.
2. Deployment and Configuration: Deploy, configure, and integrate SBCs in various network environments, including
on-premises and cloud-based deployments. Ensure interoperability with SIP trunks, PBX systems, and other VoIP
infrastructure components.
3. Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and policies for SBC configurations to protect against
unauthorized access, fraud, and service disruptions. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g.,
GDPR, HIPAA).
4. Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of SBC deployments.
Perform proactive performance tuning and optimization to maintain optimal call quality and reliability.
5. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide escalated support for complex issues related to SBC functionality, call routing,
SIP signaling, and media handling. Troubleshoot and resolve voice quality issues and network connectivity problems.
6. Documentation and Training: Create technical documentation, guidelines, and procedures for SBC deployment,
configuration, and maintenance. Provide training and knowledge transfer to operational teams and customers as
needed.
7. Vendor Management: Coordinate with SBC vendors for product evaluation, feature enhancement requests, and
troubleshooting of vendor-specific issues.
