Landmark Pest Management is seeking three individuals to train as commercial pest control technicians providing pest management services to restaurants, schools, and municipal buildings in Chicago.
Training:
This role does not require any prior experience in pest control. Prior experience in the food service industry is preferred. Forty-five days of paid on-the-job training are provided. Paid classroom training is also provided.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional and professional customer service for every client during every encounter
- Speak with clients about their pest problems and exhibit expertise, establish value, and utilize emotional intelligence to convert them into long term clients
- Inspection, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of pest issues
- Provide high-level support to peers, management, and executive management
- Assist with new staff training
- Attend workshops that focus on the areas of customer service, marketing, sales, and other business topics and implement the skills learned in these classes to improve the quality of the company’s service
- Implement and manage Integrated Pest Management treatment plans
- Correctly and efficiently install any and all pest control treatment that the site calls for in accordance with the label on the product being used
- Properly document the use of each product for each location in accordance with state pesticide application regulations in the company computer system
- Safely drive company vehicle
- Keep company vehicle organized and stocked with the appropriate amount of products to complete all jobs each day
- Stay current on license requirements and pest management techniques
- Safely set and climb ladders when necessary (up to 12 feet)
- Solve insect and rodent pest problems by identifying the conditions that contribute to pestilence, documenting pest problems and structural deficiencies, and applying products that control pests in the most targeted and effective manner possible
- Identify opportunities to tell clients about additional products and services
- Improve oneself with relation to their position as a life-long learner so that they may provide our clients with excellence in pest protection grounded in science
- Educate clients on the steps that they must take to solve their pest problems.
- Courteously engage clients in a professional manner
- Other projects as assigned
Compensation and Benefits:
- We pay an hourly wage and with all overtime new technicians average between $45,000 to $60,000 per year
- Paid overtime at time-and-a-half

Hours:
Hours can range from Monday through Friday: 6:00 am to 3:00 p.m. Some weekend and evening work is available.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Illinois drivers license with a clean driving record
- Our vehicle insurance carrier will conduct a DVM search of candidates’ driving records and will advise on whether a record is good enough for coverage
- Must be able to read and learn approximately 75 pages of insect, rodent, and pesticide facts and pass the Illinois Department of Public Health licensing examination within the first six months of employment to earn the pest control license. Study materials and classroom training are provided.
- Must have a parking place to safely store the company vehicle overnight

Physical requirements:
- Must carry, lift, set, and climb ladders
- Must be able to lift 60 lbs
- Must have good balance and coordination and be able to walk over railroad tracks, and areas with uneven terrain
- Must be able to walk up to seven miles per day
- Must be able to crouch, kneel, bend over, lie on the floor to look under equipment, and stand up from the floor
- Must be able to maintain comfort and safety in outdoor working conditions that include summer heat and winter cold
Experience:
- Candidates must be proficient in the use of email, and must be able to use Microsoft Word or Google Docs
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
