Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our team. As a Cytotechnologist, you will be responsible for examining cellular samples under a microscope to detect abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of diseases. Your expertise in specimen collection processing, DNA isolation, RNA extraction, and laboratory management will contribute to accurate and timely results.
Duties:
- Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, including Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, and body fluid specimens
- Identify abnormal cells or other indicators of disease or infection
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and communicate results to pathologists
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate specimen collection and processing
- Maintain accurate records of all tests performed and ensure compliance with laboratory protocols
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and safety guidelines during specimen handling and processing
- Participate in quality control procedures to maintain accuracy and precision of test results
- Stay updated on advancements in cytology techniques and participate in continuing education activities
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or related field
- Certification as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
- Proven experience in cytology laboratory procedures, including specimen collection processing, DNA isolation, RNA extraction, and phlebotomy
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to cytology specimens
- Familiarity with laboratory management principles and practices
- Experience working with clinical trials is a plus
- Proficient in data management systems and electronic medical records
