What You Will Do
Facilitates effective tracking of all patients presenting to the Adult ED and entry of technical billing for those patients seen. (80%) Competency 1
Communicates effectively with Adult ED Management, staff, and physicians. (20%) Competency 2
According to departmental guidelines, maintains patient record and all department logs (written and/or electronically). Tracks missing data and initiates efforts to get necessary components, i.e., dictations, signatures, etc., to assure accurate, current and retrievable data. Tracks and follows up on all specialty billing (BWC, trauma). Maintains productivity and efficiency in a self-directed way. (15%) Competency 3 Additional Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications
Education
High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
Associate's Degree (Preferred) Work Experience
Medical Terminology experience (Required) and
Coding and billing experience. (Preferred) and
2+ years experience working in a hospital environment, medical records, coding or billing experience. (Required) and
Experience with Microsoft Office Excel (Required) and
PC experience (word, e-mail, excel) (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Anatomy and Physiology (Preferred proficiency)
Complete all JC and HIPAA classes; (Required proficiency)
Successful completion of orientation to department (Required proficiency)
Strong problem-solving skills (Required proficiency)
Organization of large quantities of paperwork (Required proficiency)
Data entry (45 wpm typing) (Required proficiency)
Excellent interpersonal skills (Required proficiency)
Basic math skills (Required proficiency)
Strong organizational skills (Preferred proficiency)
Working knowledge of UH Care & Sorian (Preferred proficiency) Licenses and Certifications
