Basic Functions: This is a non-exempt position. This positon is responsible for the initial outreach and enrollment of clients referred to the San Poil Treatment Center and will perform case management duties; working with the clinical team to help direct clients to appropriate services that relate to their continuum of care. The Intake Case Manager is a senior technical level position in career path for the HHS/BHP-CDP and San Poil Treatment Facility in Keller, WA. The Intake Case Manager requires an advanced working knowledge of Chemical Dependency/Behavioral Health terminology, including experience working with health policy and procedures. The Intake Case Manager conducts case management duties, providing assistance to the clinical team by following up with assigned tasks, ensures full compliance with grant requirements and adherence to Tribal policies and procedures and in accordance with federal and state regulations. The Intake Case Manager strives to provide support to a population of residents and families, who have struggled with chemical dependency and who are receiving treatment; many of whom have complex histories involving significant traumatic experiences. The Intake Case Manager reports administratively to the Facility Administrator and clinically to the Clinical Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:

Typically requires an Associates’ Degree plus 2 years behavioral health related intake, case management, discharge planning, or related experience. Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social services, or related discipline minimum of one year behavioral health related experience ( preferred) and will substitute for experience.

Requires a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the Colville Tribes vehicle insurance.
- Requires eligibility for Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration in Washington State or similar license/registration in any US State or jurisdiction. Requires a First Aid and CPR card and maintain credentials and eligibility throughout employment or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Requires a TB test as a condition of employment with a negative result or obtain test within 15 days of employment.

Requires knowledge of the responsibilities and resources of federal, state, tribal, and local agencies responsible for administering chemical dependency, behavioral health and tribal health services.
- Requires knowledge of and sensitivity to American Indian culture.
- Requires substantial familiarity with case management principles, record keeping, and documentation.
- Requires demonstrated skills in motivational interviewing techniques, objective analysis, problem-solving, organization, information gathering, time management, and documentation activities.
- Requires critical thinking: Intake specialists have to be able to understand what a person needs when coming to them in crisis or in a less than optimum state of health. Being able to find solutions for a myriad of issues will be necessary.
- Requires problem solving: Intake specialists have to find solutions for the problems their clients bring to them. Intake specialists need to be able to make decisions on continuum of care as it relates to treatment.
- Requires attention to detail: Intake specialists review all of a patient's medical history with a close eye so as not to miss any details that will interfere with recovery or care.
- Requires compassion: Intake specialists see people during moments of trauma or crisis, where they and their family are vulnerable or in pain. Being compassionate is an asset in this field.
- Requires patience: Being patient with people who may have trouble communicating or understanding what is happening and what is important.
- Requires communication skills: Intake specialists need to be good listeners and speakers. Intake specialists communicate with patients and their families and often are the liaison between families and providers, including CD/BH therapists or other medical staff.
