JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
REPORTS TO: Controller
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its general business and payroll/benefits functions. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary dreams. The Senior Accountant is a key member of our Accounting team and reports directly to our Controller. We support and reward creativity, performance, professional development and team involvement. We also have fun, and eat well, in the process!
Specific Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, assisting in the Bursar’s department with billing, collections, tracking receivables (aging and uncollectable) and participating in the monthly close.
· Assist with processing payroll to ensure employee benefit and compensation data are reflected accurately and timely.
· Assist management in identifying opportunities to streamline and improve processes, providing input for automating processes, and actively implementing changes, as needed.
· Assist in Annual audits and performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· Minimum of three years' related accounting experience required / and or employee benefit administration.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
· Must be comfortable working with databases and financial systems
· Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment, and be able to work with diplomacy and efficiency in such an environment
· Must be able to demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
· In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization
· Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality
