Position Summary:
The Cytotechnologist will microscopically examine preparations for cytologic evaluation, correlating clinical information with morphologic findings on cytologic slides, and render a microscopic assessment on non-gynecologic specimens pending final diagnosis by a pathologist.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Screens and interprets cytologic specimens for benign and neoplastic processes under the supervision of pathologists.

Prepares and processes Cytology specimens.
- Convey reports to clinicians and maintain department documentation.

Conduct a QA correlation review.

Assists supervisor in meeting department regulatory agency requirements (CLIA, etc.)

Performs quality control procedures per protocol and completes necessary documentation.

Document all diagnoses in Vital Axis.

Perform UroVysion FISH tests.

Qualifications:

B.S. in Biological Science or related degree.

Minimum of two years’ experience in a Cytology position.
-
ASCP certification in cytotechnology is required and will be verified prior to employment.

UroVysion FISH test experience is highly desirable.

Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, reliable, and accountable in meeting timelines.

Excellent computer software and data analysis skills.

Well-versed in writing SOPs and Quality Control documents.

Physical Requirements for the Job:

Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
