Job Description:
This position is responsible for functions related to the maintenance, repair and construction of the equipment, property and facility, with significant emphasis on meeting customer requirements and company objectives within the industry’s guidelines, quality and company standards, practices and procedures. Evaluate and analyze data on equipment improvements and report results. May support or otherwise supervise the safety and environmental initiatives with the location. Must display leadership and coach team members to utilize the processes and facilitate problem-solving on the floor. Position includes the supervision of up to five direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and continuously improve the plant’s performance by implementing lean manufacturing concepts, techniques, and processes- champion and drive reduction of losses through breakdown analysis and other appropriate continuous improvement tools. Initiate equipment rebuilds and replacement programs based on hours/cycles.
Formulate improvement processes to reduce scrap and defects while improving throughput and document SOP’s and the implementation of Best Practices into the facility by utilizing engineering techniques such as, but not limited to, process flow design, time study and Poke Yoke.
Oversee all Maintenance Department functions, including prioritizing work, operation, administration, technical supervision and maintenance projects management. Plan and coordinate major PM activities during scheduled plant shutdowns (one week in July and December).
Manage and use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably MVP software for parts, preventative maintenance and asset management, including system configuration, establishing best practices and train new users.
Develop and control budget for all maintenance areas: ensure department materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently, maintain and track inventory on spare parts to minimize equipment downtime.
Complete annual performance reviews and monitor maintenance crew performance using a KPI as a scorecard to measure group performance. Achieve year on year KPI improvements on planned vs. unplanned downtime, costs and PM labor efficiency.
Collaboratively establishing clear goals, objectives and performance targets than align with the company’s vision; setting and communicating the highest expectations for performance.
Promote good housekeeping by ensuring that work areas are maintained clean, clear of debris, orderly and safe.
Coordinate and be primary contact for both onsite and outsourced contractor work.
Embraces and uses technology for conditioning monitoring to drive the best-in-class reliability maintenance program while ensuring the team is thoroughly trained and utilizing available technology.
Maintain relationships with other manufacturing locations to benchmark best practices and keep current the new trends and developments.
Participate in understanding and adhering to OSHA and EPA regulations; ensure environmental safety, and regulatory compliance for all state, local and federal agencies.
Manage facilities/building maintenance needs.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Heavy manufacturing environment a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- Technical knowledge of process and equipment used in manufacturing processes including tool & die, material handling equipment, welding, planned maintenance, robots; and networks a strong plus.
- Ability to understand mathematical calculations and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts
- Possess high level interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations.
Physical Demands: daily talking, hearing, vision, walking, standing, sitting, reaching, use of both hands, some climbing and bending.
