Job Description:
We are seeking an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science to join our esteemed faculty team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in Computer Science courses, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and leveraging technology to enhance student learning. As a member of our faculty, you will play a key role in supporting our mission to provide excellence in education while maintaining accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver assigned courses in Computer Science as outlined in the academic schedule and course syllabus, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and criteria.
- Select appropriate textbooks and educational resources that align with course objectives and accreditation requirements, incorporating technology-enhanced learning materials where applicable.
- Develop engaging course materials and lesson plans that reflect academic rigor and the competencies required for program accreditation, with a focus on online instruction.
- Provide students with detailed syllabi outlining course aims, learning outcomes, teaching methods, attendance policies, required texts, assignments, evaluation criteria, and accreditation-related competencies.
- Utilize the institution's learning management system for syllabus dissemination, assignment allocation, material sharing, and student communication, maintaining up-to-date course materials and grades.
- Implement a variety of teaching methods to present course content effectively, integrating assignments that emphasize practical application of theoretical concepts and meet accreditation standards.
- Assess student performance in alignment with course objectives, learning outcomes, and accreditation benchmarks, providing timely feedback on progress.
- Offer student support through virtual office hours, scheduled meetings, and digital communication channels.
- Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, assessments, and grades, ensuring compliance with accreditation data reporting requirements.
- Encourage student participation in course evaluations and utilize feedback to enhance educational delivery and meet accreditation improvement plans.
- Continuously update and refine course content to uphold academic excellence and compliance with accreditation guidelines, with a focus on online instruction.
- Participate in orientation sessions to familiarize with the university's mission, teaching philosophy, policies, and learning management system, with an emphasis on accreditation standards.
- Attend meetings with the Chief Academic Officer to discuss course dynamics, student advancement, curriculum updates, and contribute to program enhancement with a focus on accreditation.
- Engage in accreditation self-study, preparation of reports, and readiness for accreditation visits, assisting in the development and maintenance of the program's assessment plan to meet accreditation standards.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution. A Doctorate degree is preferred.
- Relevant teaching experience at the university/college level, with a focus on online instruction and familiarity with e-learning and learning management systems.
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in utilizing learning management systems effectively for course delivery, communication, and management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage course content and instructional materials.
- Experience in assessing student performance in accordance with learning objectives and outcomes.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement of teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
- Availability to maintain consistent availability for student consultation through virtual office hours, appointments, phone, or email.
- Record-keeping skills to accurately track student enrollment, attendance, assessments, and grades.
- Familiarity with academic policies and procedures, with a commitment to upholding them.
- Ability to provide constructive and timely feedback to students about their progress.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or course requirements.
