What we do:
In the role of Material Handler/Forklift Operator, you will have the opportunity to learn and operate all of the facets that go into making a great cup of coffee. In this facility, we unload green coffee beans sourced from the most sought-after coffee growers around the world, roast, pack, and ship to a diverse portfolio of customers that range from local coffee houses around the Kansas City metro to major retailers around the world. We are also a SQF (Safe Quality Food) facility, and we take our cleaning and organizational roles just as serious to ensure that our employees not only work in a safe environment, but also ensure that we have taken all necessary steps to ensure that nothing but Quality product ships to our customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
1. Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, supplies, and products.
2. Safely and efficiently transport materials to designated storage areas while operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
3. Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and perform periodic spot checks.
4. Rotate stock to ensure the first-in, first-out (FIFO) principle is followed.
5. Prepare materials and products for production by picking, packing, and staging as needed.
6. Assist in the accurate and timely fulfillment of orders for both internal production and external customers.
7. Ensure orders are properly labeled and ready for shipment.
8. Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse processes and resolve any issues that arise.
9. Follow all company and industry regulations related to food safety and hygiene.
10. Completes other specified duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
· Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or production environment.
· Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds repeatedly and frequently.
· Basic math skills for inventory management and accuracy.
· Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues with the forklift.
· Must be flexible and willing to work in other areas as assigned.
· Must be able to meet production goals as a dependable and hardworking team player without compromising food quality.
· Attention to detail and food safety.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work location is a manufacturing/warehouse/production plant and associates will stand on concrete floor for extended periods throughout the day. Facility temperatures in Fahrenheit reach 90s in the summer and 60s in the winter. The facility is Safe Quality Food (SQF) certified so all associates must wear closed toe shoes, hair and beard nets, no strong-smelling perfumes or colognes, no jewelry, long nails, or fake eyelashes and always practice good personal hygiene. All associates participate in daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility regardless of job title or position.
