This position is for teaching at a Jewish Religious School from the end of August-middle of May on Sundays.
I am currently looking for teachers for our 6th grade Torah portion class, 7th grade Holocaust course, science elective, and a Hebrew specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing hands-on experiential lessons in alignment with weekly pacing guide and learning goals
- Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students
- Encouraging students to ask questions and explore their own Jewish identity
- Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
- Establishing and re-enforcing classroom rules that support a positive learning environment
- Being a positive role-model for our learners
- Updating parents weekly through our school platform
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Flexibility in adapting lessons and activities to students’ various learning needs
- Willingness to learn new and interactive teaching styles and strategies
- Comfort speaking in front of others
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Technology skills to track student attendance and grades and present creative lessons
- Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all ages
- Jewish Background or knowledge of Reconstructionist Judaism preferred
- Knowledge of Basic Hebrew a plus but not required
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 8 per week
