Our Jacksonville manufacturing facility has about 250 employees operating over three shifts.
Job Summary:
Performs highly diversified and complex contour milling, drilling, boring, tapping, and/or grinding, using computer controlled or complex, high precision specialized machining centers and trains machining operators. Programs, debugs, sets up, and controls related machines. This position will investigate and resolve work-in-process problems and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Solid understanding CNC programing and how they are integrated with PC user interfaces.
- Knowledgeable of grind tooling design and best practices.
- Understanding of machine components and trouble shoot grind machines, lasers, and touch probe systems.
- Knowledge of grind wheel specifications (types and applications)
- Strong understanding of how hardware is fixtured, chucked, or otherwise restrained for grind processes.
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the quality of components produced and ensures orders are delivered on time at the lowest cost.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Oversees training and communication with manufacturing operators.
- Programs, sets up, controls, operates, adjusts, debugs, and performs work on conventional machines and 3 or 4 axis CNC turning, drilling, and grinding machines, performing preventive maintenance as necessary.
- Productivity improvement gained through process Improvement.
- Quality and production metrics (PPM, OEE, & Production Efficiency)
- Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, 5S program knowledge
- May be required to perform miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
- PC proficiency. Machine control/CNC programming background a must
- Shop environment experience, specifically automotive assembly strongly desired
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Technical background in metalworking industry with CNC knowledge.
- Minimum of seven years combined manufacturing machine shop experience.
