The School of Business at Black Hills State University seeks to hire an assistant professor for an on-campus, tenure-track position (nine-month contract) in economics starting August 2024.
Faculty members have defined responsibilities in teaching, scholarship/research, and service (University, professional, and community). The School of Business is AACSB accredited and offers undergraduate business programs in Professional Accountancy and Business Administration with the following specializations: accounting, economics, entrepreneurial studies, human resources management, management, and marketing. The School of Business also offers an MBA in applied management.
DUTIES:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, in Spearfish, Rapid City and online in economics and possibly business statistics. The standard teaching load is eight courses per academic year. Summer teaching is optional.
- Engage in appropriate research/scholarly activities.
Participate in service activities, included those associated with the maintenance of AACSB accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- PhD in Economics. ABDs will be considered, with the expectation of completion within one year from the initial contract start date. If the candidate is ABD, the initial contract will be at $4,000 lower salary and a term contract. A salary increase and tenure track will be granted upon degree completion.
- Maintain Academically Qualified status with respect to AACSB-based standards.
- Ability to publish scholarly articles economics/business peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Strong collegial and collaborative skills.
- Prior peer-reviewed journal publications.
- The ability to teach and develop courses in the applicant’s area(s) of expertise.
