Job Responsibilities:
The Medical Billing Specialist acts as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to manage the financial side of patient care. The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and preparing patient invoices, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of billing data, resolving billing issues, assisting patients with billing-related concerns, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Job Duties:
· Coding: Applying ICD codes to medical records, and coding procedures, diagnoses, services, and treatments
· Claims: Preparing and submitting claims to insurance carriers, correcting rejected claims, and following up on rejected claims
· Payments: Tracking payments, posting payments, and following up with patients and insurance companies about outstanding bills
· Invoices: Sending invoices to patients and their insurers, and calling patients to discuss payment and payment plans
· Documentation: Entering patient data into administrative systems, recording information about outstanding claims, and documenting account activities
· Communication: Maintaining open and respectful communication with patients, coworkers, and management, and answering calls professionally and respectfully
· Other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Education / Experience:
· Associate’s degree or higher
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical billing or any coding industry
· Proficient in electronic medical records
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong communications skills
Details:
Salary range: $18.00-$23.00, based on education and experience.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday
Hours: 36-40 hours weekly
Location: On-site, in person. Our company does not have remote positions.
