JOB SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric Nurse practitioner functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to Psychiatric patients in an outpatient setting. He/she demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses encountered in adults ages 18 years and older under the scope of general Psychiatric medicine.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 2+ years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience with mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans, and managing crisis situations
- An unrestricted license and valid DEA number in the state
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Registration with state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
- No adverse actions by any nursing board, hospital or other credentialing body in the past 3 years
- A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited university or graduate program in psychiatric mental health nursing
- JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience is preferred
- Experience in the Mental/Psych facilities are a PLUS
Licenses & Certifications:
- Active RN and APNP license in State of Nevada
- Active Board Certification as a NP
- Active DEA License and ability to dispense controlled substances
- CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP)
- *Licensed in multiple states is a PLUS

- Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute and chronic patient/family health problems
