The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time, it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families. Facility amenities include a large cardio and weight floor, full-court basketball gym, three fitness studios, and a state-of-the-art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river.
The Head Lifeguard provides leadership and influence within the program area they are working, while creating a safe, friendly and nurturing atmosphere.
Responsibilities:

Create a safe environment for members and participants through active deck scanning, being on time and ready to respond quickly and appropriately while role modeling safe behavior.

Designated First Responder.

Engage members and participants in effective, age-appropriate communication using the Y voice attributes.

Actively engage with and encourage members during swim tests and lessons.

Develop intentional relationships and engage members in a way to help them meet the seven Cause Measurement goals.

Adhere to Aquatics Leading Practice Manual.

Using the Y voice attributes provide appropriate feedback to participants and members as needed.
Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older upon hire.

Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green).

Ability to pass all standard safety drills with an 80% passing average.

Ability to swim 500 yards in 12 minutes or less. 400 yards is crawl and 100 must be breaststroke.

Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.

Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.

Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
Schedule:
This is a part time position averaging 20-25 hours weekly. Schedule requirements vary based on staffing needs. Discuss with hiring manager.
