Position Summary: Our accounting department is growing! Mendoza is looking for a financial controller with an eye to detail, great accounting and analytical skills, with an optimistic attitude, that can hit the ground running. The selected candidate will be part of a small accounting team that works hand in hand with the marketing and translation team, and is under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer.

What you Bring to the Team:
- Prepares monthly and annual accrual basis financial statements.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts and records general journal entries as needed.
- Maintains accounting records, including general ledger, payroll and taxes.
- Prepares monthly revenue deferral schedules.
- Prepares annual tax workpapers for external accountants.
- Prepares annual operational budgets.
- Works with media department on reconciling media campaign spend.
- Prepares, monitors and reconciles marketing campaign budgets.
- Works with account managers to assure budgets are being adhered to.
- Prepares monthly marketing invoices.
- Analyzes project profitability.
- Works with accounting managers as needed on transactional duties as assigned.
- Assists in developing and implementing accounting policies and controls.
- Reviews bi-weekly payroll.
- Monitors accounts receivable aging.
- Processes vendor payments.
- Recommends financial performance benchmarks.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements, as well as tax compliance issues.
- Supports other ad hoc projects and requests as necessary.
- Communicates regularly with and reports to the CFO.
- Manages accounting staff.

What the Perfect Match Needs to Have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Impeccable attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software a plus.
- Sound understanding of accrual basis accounting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Knowledge of general financial accrual accounting; knowledge of cost accounting a plus.
- A positive attitude with the ability to multi-task.
- Flexible and resilient to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changing business conditions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical thinker and problem solver.
- High level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work closely with senior management team.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role in private industry.
- Experience in human resources a plus.
Job Type:
- Full-time (9am to 5pm EST).
- Work location: hybrid or fully remote depending on proximity to office. Remote candidates must be in EST or Central time zones.
What’s in it for You - Compensation and Benefits:
Annual salary between $85,000 and $105,000. Compensation based on experience.
