Shir Hadash Mission:
The Shir Hadash Early Childhood Center Creates a safe and nurturing Jewish early childhood environment, inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia, rooted in our congregational community and Reform Jewish values, where children are valued as capable individuals that help guide the emergent curriculum.
The ECC welcomes families of all faiths. Membership in Congregation Shir Hadash is not required.
Goals:
The educators of SHECC work together to create goals that reflect our community of learners, philosophy and mission statement. Our goals for children, educators and families are to work together to:
-Encourage growth and development of social-emotional language and self regulation skills as the foundation for lifelong success.
-Promote self esteem and confidence and by offering opportunities to express all feelings, problem solve both independently and with adult support, and to feel like an important member of both the classroom and ECC community.
-Provide an environment that encourages and allows learning through play and other hands-on opportunities, fosters creativity in all domains, and the opportunity to take risks.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement an emergent, age-appropriate lesson plan for Transitional Kindergarten.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow
- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through engaging activities
- Use effective classroom management techniques to promote positive behavior
- Collaborate with parents and communicate regularly about their child's progress
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
-Maintain documentation binders for each child
-Post photos, videos and weekly on Parent Square
-Daily whiteboard for parents
-Plan Field Trips
Requirements:
- Minimum of the 12 core ECE units
- Degree in Early Childhood Education Preferred
- Previous experience working with preschool and Transitional Kinder-aged children
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Patience, flexibility, and creativity in working with young children
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students
