Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician III can function independently of the pharmacist (at least 85% of the time) and works in specialized areas, including hazardous sterile compounding, critical care, hematology/oncology, and emergency room.
Job-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inventory management of chemotherapy and supportive care mediations in the CCBD pharmacy satellite
- Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining integrity of sterile compounding areas
- Functions both independently and in a team environment
- Compounds chemotherapy and related medications with high efficiency and delivers medications throughout the CCBD space
- Triages and streamlines medication compounding to effectively compound high cost and short dated chemotherapy
- Perform additional responsibilities as necessary
Schedule: Day shift; variable
Experience:
- At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy-related work experience is required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- One-year Vocational / Technical School degree is preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required
- Maintenance of the CPhT is required
- Aseptic Sterile Technique (IV) Certification is required
- Chemotherapy Certification within 90 days of hire is required
