International Student Service Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Service Specialist is a key member of the Registrar/Bursar and Student Services Office of a prominent NYC performing arts conservatory. The conservatory has built an outstanding reputation of over 50 years in offering training in Acting and the theater arts and is known for its unwavering commitment to excellence and the achievements of its alumni.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop an understanding of all issues related to academic records, payments, student schedules, class registration, transcripts, and student services. Learn the office procedures and protocols and the established workflow process. Work under the supervision of the Institute President and the Senior Registrar, Student Services Manager, and Institute Administration.
Advise international students on immigration regulations and procedures. Will serve as the advisor point-of-contact for a designated cohort of academic programs/departments and their international students and provide counseling on U.S. immigration regulations, Institute and department policy, and personal, cultural adjustment, and other issues related to supporting a student’s successful experience; serve as a Designated School Official (F student visa program) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Also, issues immigration forms and process applications through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
Must have experience with international student advising; knowledge of the SEVIS and U.S. immigration regulations pertaining to the F-1 student visa types. Knowledge of veteran GI Bill is also a plus.
Assist with keeping accurate records including applications, academic records, faculty contracts, and maintain both electronic and physical files and other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND PROFICIENCIES
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in a similar environment: fast paced, multi-tasking, results driven with attention to detail.
- Must be proficient in Filemaker database (or similar database), Google Documents, Microsoft Suite Word, Excel, and Zoom
- Proven track record of ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with SEVIS and student visas is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
