Position: Adjunct Professor General and Aviation Courses
This new Aeronautical College is currently being licensed by the State of Florida to offer a variation of Degree programs. The academy currently offers an accredited vocational pilot program and has been in business for over 30 years. First semester is planned for Fall 2024.
We are searching for a proactive Adjunct Professor to join our institution to teach a general education course. The adjunct professor's responsibilities include reviewing and improving syllabi, understanding students’ needs, developing engaging lesson plans, and ensuring the relevant learning resources are available. You should also be able to evaluate student performance and address any issues promptly.
To be successful as an adjunct professor, you should prepare assessments that enrich and challenge students. Outstanding adjunct professors are able to teach and foster relationships with students from different cultural and economic backgrounds.
Specific Courses needing Adjunct support:
General Education (In-Class Format):
· ENC 101 English Composition I
· ENC 102 English Composition II
Adjunct Professor Responsibilities:
- Develop, deliver, and review course material and syllabi.
- Create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and learning.
- Set up assessments based on departmental regulations and requirements.
- Prepare students for assessments and provide helpful performance feedback.
- Provide extra support to students who require it and schedule consultation times as required by students.
- Answer students’ questions and provide feedback on assignments.
- Assist other faculty members with lesson plans and assessments as required.
- Recommend additional readings or advice to students as required.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in the respective field and integrating new knowledge into lessons.
- Attend faculty meetings as required.
- Other reasonable duties as required to successfully meet program management and learning objectives.
Adjunct Professor Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant academic field with a major or minor in the respective area of instruction.
- Work experience in the related field required; experience as an adjunct professor preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills with patience, understanding, and empathy.
- Good analytical and organizational skills.
Successful applicants will be required to comply with the following:
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum
- Provide “Official” transcripts for all degrees held showing the relevant major and minor academic experience
- Must be willing to commit to at least eight hours of professional development training per year.
- Provide copies of any relevant certifications.
- Complete the required personnel background information required by the State and by the accrediting institution.
- Successfully complete a background check.
