Job Description
Role Qualifications: Must be able to perform duties associated with Quality Control Inspector job description. Must be able to assist Supervisor in improving working conditions (safety, quality, efficiency and productivity). Must have 5 years or more experience in Fabrication.
Position Summary: The Quality Control Inspector conducts inspections and audits on various manufactured parts, assemblies and/or sub-assemblies. The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for executing general inspection, both visual and dimensional. Measure and verify dimensions and tolerances of parts according to drawings and procedures using standard measuring tools and equipment. Maintain quality standards by monitoring and approving finished products and products in-process. Notify supervisor(s) upon identification of issue(s) to remedy the problem immediately and follow through with non-conformance. Complete reports (written and/or online, as required) documenting conformance of job-specific and standard procedures for product fabrication, installation of materials, and processes to quality standards. Also occasionally weld or fabricate as the need arises, or when the Quality Control Inspector’s job is slow.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct inspections on various processed parts, fabricated parts and assemblies. Approve product by confirming specifications, conducting visual confirmation and measurement using various measuring tools.

Provide final Inspection on finish products by acceptance or rejection according to procedures or standards. Re-work to be communicated to supervisor(s) and proper documentation is followed through. (Non-conformance, work performance, etc).

Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; input data into the quality database.

Support quality by giving constructive feedback on quality related issues.

Be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and work independently to ensure that the highest quality standards are achieved. Also pro-actively communicate with department peers and management.

Conduct inspections of workmanship and materials upon delivery to next process.

Perform final Inspections to determine acceptance or rejection of materials to ensure conformance to required dimensional, cosmetic and other standard requirements.

File all reports and photo documentation to their respective folder with proper information as in dates, job # or established naming, etc.

Oversee quality, efficiency, productivity, also keep personnel busy and productive when required or in the absence of the area supervisor.

Responsible to complete all production paperwork which includes but is not limited to: Daily records, detailed work order notes, time spent on jobs, and production labor tickets to an acceptable level of accuracy.

Participate in providing proper training to new and existing employees by following the established shop standards.

Ensure work is performed according to Documentation, Drawings, Engineering Standards, Quality Manual Standards and (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices.

Input data into the scheduling tool, monitor, communicate and update status, report miscommunication, due date project changes to supervisor.

Must wear PPE at all times, hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective clothing.

Perform all necessary quality checks during production assembly, packaging, etc. and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered.

Prior to performing a quality inspection (Q.C), ensure that the employee has performed a self-check before continuing.

Work in a fast paced environment with fast changing priorities, display a professional attitude and respect working relationships among co-workers at all times.

During the inspection, ensure that parts are properly marked with part numbers, job numbers, quantities etc.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications etc.

Verify accuracy by examining contents and comparing to work order, drawings, and prints prior to quality check.

Examine product or work to verify conformance to specifications, demonstrate good judgment in decision-making, input, and issue escalation; facilitate problem solving.

Perform different miscellaneous tasks that are instructed by the supervisor or management which may not be covered in detail within this job description.

Must follow all Federal and State rules, regulations, ordinances, laws, etc. This includes but is not limited to the following. DOL, FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, EEOC, BOLI, OFLA, OROSHA.
Qualification/Requirements:

Preferred education, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent highly desired.

Must have experience in a metal processing industry and strong working knowledge with metal fabrication, tools, equipment and machinery.

Computer-literacy with software especially in email, MS Office.

Good oral/written communication skills and basic math skills.
-
Ability to properly handle confidential information and records.
-
Able to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies and the ability to correct mistakes.
-
Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, pay close attention to accuracy and give clear verbal directions.
-
Able to set machines to perform quality, sound welds.
-
Has the ability to weld various metals and use oxy-acetylene torch and plasma machine.

Be able to read and understand all symbols on drawings and blueprints.
-
Has a full knowledge of current AWS D1.1 welding codes and procedures which covers structural steel welding.

Must be able to read and understand blueprints, contract drawings, and fabrication drawings at a high level of competency.

Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment and use various power tools, saws, Ironworkers, punches, torches, portable plasma, sanders, sheers, and able to perform minor equipment repairs.

Must have all fabrication tools of the trade, and must be able to read and decipher Job Order forms.

Prefer a certification and a minimum of 5 years in a welding steel and fabrication environment.

Ability to think creatively and adapt well to change, manage stress without negatively effecting work quality or professional demeanor.

Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks successfully in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to use precision measuring devices such as calipers, height gages, thread gauges, protractors, micrometers etc.

Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and with little or no supervision.

1 to 3 years of experience in quality inspection in the metal fabrication or machining industry.

Need to be available to work other shifts to support company needs.
-
Must be punctual and display good attendance and be able to work at least 40 hrs per week, be available to work overtime when necessary.

Must be able to pass forklift certification and operate forklifts in a safe manner and have a valid ODL is preferred
Physical Requirements:
-
This position requires Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp, push, reach overhead and outward frequently. Also requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on regular bases and stand or walk up to 10 hours per day.

Occasional work outside in various weather conditions and work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate to high noise levels.

Requirements:
