Senior Civil Right Legal Support Specialist
Ancon is a government contracting firm and has an immediate need for a Senior Civil Rights Legal Support Specialist to provide support s services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the civil rights office of a government agency in Washington DC. This position is fulltime remote supporting the Washington DC team; 8:am-4:30
All candidates MUST have documented civil rights discrimination experience to include investigations, adjudications, FAD’s etc., as well as provide writing samples.
Qualifications of Senior Legal Support Specialist
Legal Support Specialist shall:
- Read and analyze all letters and documents to determine responsible action, subject matter(s), and signature level.
- Review and be familiar with recent decisions out of the EEOC and the MSPB
- Reviewing Reports of Investigation.
- Maintaining communication with investigators with regard to the types of evidence needed to make a determination of discrimination or harassment.
- Write Final Agency Decisions that state whether discrimination or harassment has occurred.
- Issue the Correct "Rights of Appeal" to all Complainants.
- Draft acceptance or challenges to orders that have been issued by the EEOC or MSPB (Final Orders).
- Research case law, law reviews and treatise on Westlaw when needed.
- Review the FADs of adjudicators for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, where necessary, review the relevant ROI to ensure the law has been correctly applied to facts.
- Research relevant case-law and regulations
- Provide compliance support for Title VI and VII
- Draft of a well thought out and concise opinion as to the presence of discriminatory employment practices.
- Prepare a draft of a Recommendation of Discipline to be imparted upon offending Agency Officials and address the relevant Agency Civil Rights Director and Human Resource Officer.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER EXPERTISE REQUIRED. The contractor must have:
- MUST have demonstrated experience with Investigations, writing FAD’s and ROI’s .
- MUST Be well versed of Title VI, VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act and relevant federal case law.
- Must have great writing and editing skills, to write legal memos, talking points, finding from legal research.
- Must be experience in working with C-Suite type, senior executives and have a professional appearance.
- Must be self-motivated, have the ability to problem solve with little direction and be well organized.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to quickly adjust to short deadlines and last-minute request.
- Be well versed of Title VI, VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act and relevant federal case law.
- Juris Doctorate (required) (4 years or more years’ experience)
- Read and analyze all letters and documents to determine responsible action, subject matter(s), and signature level. Identifies documents requiring urgent handling and brings such documents to the immediate attention of the respective Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialists and/or the Civil Rights (CR) Management for prompt action.
- Use barcode scanning devices to log in new material, charge-out existing files, and locate specifically identified files. Determine file numbers and classifications to be assigned, using caution to ensure that information is not classified in more than one area and that one number is not assigned to more than one case file.
- Quarterly review documents to determine if materials should be filed, updated, merged, or retired. If it is determined that such material should be retired, uses Departmental records plan and disposal procedures to transfer records to the Federal Archives Records Center.
- Examine materials to identify primary subject matter and assign proper classification from among numerous overlapping possibilities.
- Receive requests for information and resolve requests and/or direct requests appropriately for resolving inquiries and complaints.
- Receive and review correspondence. When appropriate, prepares response, submits response for government approval or refers for proper action.
- Organize and maintain files, records and draft correspondence.
- Review outgoing correspondence, ensuring proper format and grammar. Prepares statements of fact, position statements and management report and submits for approval.
- Receive and process internal customer requests and perform copy jobs as requested in a timely manner.
- Compile and forward monthly reports on budget recovery and job ticket information.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
