We are a busy ophthalmology practice that is growing and looking for a detail-oriented full-time surgical coordinator to join our amazing team.
This position is Monday - Friday. No weekends and no late nights.
Ophthalmology experience is required.
Most importantly, we're looking for candidates with the ability to multi-task, exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, and who work well within a team environment.
Duties & qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Patient-focused leader with the ability to professionally deliver a high level of patient satisfaction
- Knowledge of cataract and glaucoma surgery with the ability to effectively educate and advise the patient on surgical procedures, and present IOL options to patients
- Comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage
- Perform preop testing (IOL calculations, corneal topography, etc) and surgical counseling
- Discuss surgical costs with patients, answer questions about insurance benefits, payment, and financing
- Effectively communicate preoperative instructions and postoperative care information to patients
- Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Regularly collaborate with ambulatory surgical center team
- Schedule preop and postop visits
- Obtain all necessary insurance prior authorizations
- Understand and obtain patient consent for surgical procedure
- Willingness to be cross-trained as an ophthalmic technician and fill in as needed
- Ophthalmic experience is required
- Medical record documentation in EHR system
- Engage in a variety of tasks, with the ability to prioritize unexpected tasks
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment in compliance with OSHA standards and all state and federal guidelines
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Follow practice operating policies and procedures
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by managers, administrators, and providers
