Welcome to the Neighborhood
At NVC, we can sum up our mission with three simple words: It’s about time. We take the time to get to know every pet and their family – because nobody should feel like they’re putting their loved one in the hands of a stranger. We take the time to check on our patients and adjust treatment plans, so every pet is always on the right track. And we take the time to ensure the small-town values and details that got us here are always present in what we do.
From recent graduates to seasoned professionals, every team member who joins our family believes in taking the time. That’s how we bring innovation and heart together to give our communities the very best – and our employees the promise of a fulfilling career unlike any other in the veterinary field.
The Practice Manager We’re Looking For
This role will be responsible for all the goings-on at our La Marque clinic. From fostering relationships with in-clinic personnel, our executive leadership team and clients (both personal and referring veterinary practices) to overseeing the facility and keeping things running smoothly and in tip-top shape, this person will be expected to keep lots of balls in the air. You will need to stay operationally involved and aware to maintain and continue building on the exceptional standards that NVC is known for. While you will oversee everything, we know that you cannot DO everything. We will supply you with a stellar team of veterinary professionals to delegate to and support you in all endeavors.
This position requires you to be highly motivated, detail-oriented, a strategic thinker and a people-person with strong leadership prowess. You will be expected to help maintain a happy hospital culture, engage routinely with hospital partners, vendors and clients as well as keep an eye on the bottom-line to drive smart financial results and optimal outcomes in a variety of situations. You should also understand that your calling goes beyond a job title – and you’re not only willing, but excited to step up to the challenge. Below, you’ll find a list of our ideal expectations and accomplishments for this role. We’re not about to draw a line in the sand, but this should give you a general idea of what we’re hoping for:
· 5+ years of experience in people/relationship management with a successful track record
· Understanding of and experience in the veterinary industry
· Ability to speak and understand the vernacular during business meetings and medical interactions
· Must be a great planner: have a plan, work the plan, re-evaluate the plan on an ongoing basis as necessary
· An encourager and teacher
· Friendly and confident
· Personable with exceptional presentation and communications skills
· A self-starter that sees and works to eliminate problems as or before they happen
What Your Day Will Look Like:
· Manage our facility and staff while overseeing tasks such as finance, materials management and patient care
· Supervise and oversee the day-to-day duties of hospital employees
· Take pride in knowing and understanding employee needs, routines and responsibilities and enforcing our high standards of care across the board
· Build strong relationships in and outside of NVC to advocate for exceptional yet affordable pet care
· Understand and maintain proficiencies in the technologies of the hospital
· Help navigate and remove roadblocks for employees

- Strategize to improve efficiency and quality of care
· Interview, hire, train and motivate staff while developing creative solutions to staffing and patient care problems
· Research and promote innovative and operational approaches to make our practice better
· Oversee and help facilitate team initiatives
· Collaborate to resolve patient and workflow issues
· Participate in marketing events such as seminars, community events and trade shows as assigned
· Work closely with executive leadership team to continue progressing NVC as a force of exceptional pet care in and around the communities we serve
· Provide thought leadership in the veterinary/hospital space

As a practice manager, you will focus on the big picture and identify and implement changes to maintain the highest standards. Of course, being OUR Practice Manager requires skill, dedication and a desire for continued betterment. That said, there is no substitute for passion, soul and the empathy it takes to care for animals and the people who care for them. As important as on-paper qualifications can be, at the end of the day, we seek out people who care most about delivering exceptional client and pet experiences - every day.
Our six Neighborly Values: Accessibility, Integrity, Generosity, Collaboration, Spirit and Dedication form the foundation for everything we do. NVC team members embrace and live by our Neighborly Values, applying them through every action from advocacy to technical skill.
