Insurance and Billing Coordinator
Our Lenexa general dental practice is looking for the right person, who is an experienced dental professional, knowledgeable, self-motivated, responsible, friendly and confident to handle all aspects of our patient's dental insurance, billing, and collections of patient accounts. Work schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm with a one hour lunch each day. (May be willing to revise schedule to a 7:00am - 4:00pm workday if needed.)
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for all collections done after a patient's visit, whether it be through dental claims or patient billing. This position requires the ability to strike a good balance between what is best for the practice and what is necessary to get balances owed collected, while maintaining professional and service oriented relations with patients and other staff members.
Responsibilities:
- Initial verification and entry of dental plans for new and existing patients.
- Re-verification of existing insurance plans prior to services.
- Contacting patients for new insurance information when plans are found terminated.
- Processing electronic and paper dental claims daily.
- Preparing the correct attachments and narratives for claims.
- Posting all payments received via the mail and/or via ACH notifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all billing transactions and all patient and/or insurance correspondence regarding claims and account balances.
- Monitor and process in-office payment plan payments.
- Perform weekly billing to patients with outstanding balances for payment.
- Handling patient questions about their insurance plans, benefits and any balances remaining after insurance has paid (over the phone, via email, and in-person).
- Collection calls on new and outstanding balances.
- Call on claims over 30 days to handle any delays and get insurance payments made.
- Preparation of delinquent accounts for turn over to collection agency.
- Answering staff members questions about patients' dental benefits.
- Assisting front desk staff with answering/handling incoming calls.
Qualifications:
- At least one year experience handling dental benefits and claims: must have thorough understanding of all types of dental plans and the various limitations which impact coverage.
- At least 3 years experience working directly with patients in some aspect.
- At least 2 years prior dental assisting experience or ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of dental conditions and procedures, so as to competently create insurance narratives from progress notes and select the correct films for claims.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Must be comfortable multi-tasking and stepping in when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
