Position Summary
The Payroll Administrator will oversee the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed timely, accurately and in accordance with government regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as primary contact and oversees the TPA payroll vendor, ensuring work is done accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions for new hires, terminations, absence, and changes in pay rates
- Troubleshoot employee time records for accurate submission, track missing time, and import non-productive time
- Ensure internal controls are established and monitored for verifying payroll input prior to completion to ensure the correct processing of wages, garnishments, applicable wage taxes and other miscellaneous wage/ benefit programs, calculations, and deductions
- Collaborate with internal payroll stakeholders to identify compliance and policy criteria to ensure new and existing configuration is in alignment with company policy and timekeeping functionality
- Monitor performance through audit activities and identifying / implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Ensure timely review and validation of payroll pre-processing pay registers; perform employee specific audit reporting; calculate exception pay
- Perform payroll, garnishment, and payroll tax funding reconciliation to balance from ADP to funding portal
- Collaborates with Finance for reconciliation to the general ledger and monthly bank statements
- Supports audits by providing records and documentation to Finance for auditors
- Support TPA with employee payroll inquiries
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing systems and procedures
- Adheres to the company quality policy and promote customer service
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications or Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
- Three years payroll experience required
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and taxes
- Experience managing TPA vendor strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Workday and OSV
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, effectively interacting with executives and professionals at all levels
- Ability to guide and influence change across the business lines
- Must be able to multi-task in a busy, fast-paced environment
