Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lead Medical Biller/Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will accurately bill patient encounters and ensure timely payments and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile, Code & Bill: office visits, wound care, hospital rounding & surgeries
- Payment posting & reconciliation of all payments
- Prepare regular bank Deposits for management
- Work with providers to complete office visit and surgical dictations needed for billing.
- Resolve billing issues and answer patient inquiries
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
- Monitor delinquent accounts and provide updates to management
- Verify and generate authorizations for in-office procedures and calculate associated patient costs
- Assist in verifying insurance coverage, obtaining patient benefits, and required authorizations.
- Assist in calculating patient's financial obligations for services including office visits and procedures
- Liaison between hospitals, clinical staff, health plans, providers, and patients to process referrals.
- Assist in documenting referrals, patient benefits, authorizations, communications, actions, and other data in the EMR.
- Utilize insurance website portals and electronic options to retrieve patient benefits.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Coder & Biller or similar role
- Professional attitude with other departments, hospitals and patients
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding for procedures (in-office and surgical), and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines and healthcare regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficiency in Allscripts/Veradigm EHR systems and MS Office applications
- Positive attitude and ability to be a team player
