Job Summary:
The Branch Manager is responsible for directing and administering the operational efforts of a branch. Ensures established policies and procedures are followed. Oversees provision of a full range of services to members and prospective members. Ensures members are promptly and professionally served. Trains, directs, and supervises branch staff. Accountable for maximizing revenues, sales, member satisfaction, and minimizing operational losses, as well as deepening existing relationships and minimizing customer attrition. Responsible for successful implementation of promotional campaigns and product initiatives at the branch level.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership, directs the day-to-day operations of service functions.
- Manages direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, including hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring quality of work, compliance with regulatory requirements, and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules.
- Writes and delivers performance evaluations (including corrective action/disciplinary notices) recommends promotions, merit increases, develops action plans, recruits and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for hiring and termination.
- Ensures branch staff are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs.
- Completes orientation of new employees in overall branch procedures. Actively participates in cross-training staff and assures staff is kept abreast of all products and services. Conducts security training.
- Coaches and mentors staff to enhance service, sales, and performance results.
- Ensures members’ requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles members' complaints. Ensures members are informed of Credit Union services and policies. Counsels members regarding their financial needs and services requested.
- Ensures all branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day. Oversees individual accountability for the handling of cash and assists in resolving balancing problems.
- Ensures cross-sales opportunities are maximized. Reviews calls and coaches to performance.
- Primary Security Officer for the branch. Conducts required security meetings with staff to ensure compliance. Opens and closes the building in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment.
- Conducts In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors.
- Motivates, influences, educates and/or advises others; includes being the subject matter expert in branch operations and Credit Union products and services.
- Promotes Credit Union products and services to achieve established goals.
- Represents the Credit Union in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Maintains member/staff data and sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Supports Credit Union core values and strategic direction. Supports, promotes recommends, and participates in branch and company events.
- Leads staff meetings to maintain effective communication.
- Coordinates and conduct presentations at LA County Sheriff’s Department facilities to increase membership and product penetration.
- Implements new policies and procedures to maintain sound safety and risk management.
- Applies and evaluates policies and procedures set for the branch. Ensures that the branch is compliance with Credit Union regulations and procedures, and federal and state laws and regulations.
- Closely monitors branch goals and provides training resources and support to staff to effectively identify members’ needs through cross-selling efforts.
- Account administration of Trusts, Deceased Member Accounts, IRAs, Power of Attorney, etc.
- Determines, sets, and monitors individual staff member’s goals in relation to overall branch goals.
- Enhances and retains member relationships through quality and professional service delivery and resolving complex and sensitive service issues in a timely manner.
- Maintains the appearance of branch areas through cleanliness and organization, while ensuring sufficient and current branch supplies. Ensures a consistent and professional approach.
- Acts as a Loan Officer, processing and approving member loans for in-branch requests within established policies and limits. Ensures that branch achieves assigned loan production goal.
- Schedule adequate staff to ensure efficient branch operations.
- Travels to other POPA FCU branches (as required) filling staffing needs, attending operations or management meetings.
- Must be an actively registered Mortgage Loan Originator with the NMLS.
- Performs audits to ensure ongoing adherence with compliance and internal control procedures.
- Maintains branch cash within cash limits; includes managing cash flow.
- Responsible for the general maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and fixtures of the branch. Ensure that all security procedures are strictly followed, branch is operationally sound and satisfactory audits are achieved.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A 2-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
- Five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
- Has experience with managerial responsibilities over a branch.
- A significant level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy is required.
- Requires a well-rounded knowledge of Credit Union operations and transactions as would normally be obtained by five or more years of experience in a financial institution. Prior management experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business reports, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of management, members, vendors, and the general public.
- Demonstrated ability to provide meticulous attention to detail, and concern for accuracy and consistency in results.
- Must be competent and knowledgeable in account administration and branch operations policies and procedures.
- Must adhere to federal and state employment laws.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency within a Windows environment. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to work in excess of 40 hours per week and on weekends as needed.
- Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
- Must be able to be on-call after hours to resolve branch security, ATM maintenance and other urgent facility and/or equipment issues.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Must be highly motivated with effective communication skills and capable of leadership by example.
- Must be bondable.
- May be required to qualify as a notary public.
- Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Laws and Regulations, as they pertain to federal guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, TCRs, ATMs, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger) to visit other branch locations. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear, walk, reach with hands and arms; and stoop, or kneel. Specific vision abilities required to by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.

Pay: $73,489.17 - $110,233.75 per year
