Designs, prepares, and delivers class routines as directed by the supervisor that meet all the necessary components and safe guidelines in accordance with current accepted practices of exercise physiology.

Engages the members and supports them in achieving their goals related to healthy living

Maintains valid national certification specific to the class format they are delivering at all times as well as a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Record accurate class attendance and maintain a minimum of 60% target attendance with continual growth.

Instructs a minimum of 2 classes per week (8/month) including but not limited to at least one sub shift per quarter, and appropriately securing a substitute instructor for own classes when needed.

Begins and ends class at the scheduled time.

Where needed, sets up equipment for class, assists members in cleaning equipment before and after class.

Maintains equipment and keeps the group exercise area clean.

Participates in Community Outreach campaign and shares announcements as directed by supervisor

Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Proof of current NCCA Group Fitness Certification (ACE, NETA, or AFAA) and Specialty/ Trademarked Certification upon hire (i.e. cycling, yoga, Pilates, Zumba®, Pound®, Les Mills BODYPUMP; in some circumstances, an NCCA Certified Personal Trainer Certification may be accepted in lieu of Group Fitness.

High school diploma and experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.

Successful completion of class instruction demo by supervisor or designee upon hire.

Must have current CPR/First aid & AED certification within the first 30 days of employment; until certification is obtained, cannot work alone.

All mandatory YMCA of Central Ohio training(s) must be completed by the required date.
