Job Overview
The molecular technologist will be an integral part of a team responsible for all aspects of daily workflow in the molecular lab. Qualified candidates are expected to have significant experience (min 3 years) running DNA and RNA-based tests, high-quality error-free bench technique, be well organized, and be able to handle high-volume lab workflow.
Responsibilities
· Perform DNA and RNA extractions for molecular assays on RT-PCR instruments while following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results
· Performs proficiency testing samples in the same manner as the patient specimens
· Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance
· Be able to identify problems, troubleshoot, and work with the team to resolve the problem
· Works with the laboratory team to complete all expected tasks in an accurate and timely manner
· Maintains flexibility required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.
Qualification Requirements
· Minimum 3 years of hands-on benchwork experience with DNA and RNA-based assays run on RT-PCR
· NY State certified required
· Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences) or related area is required
· ASCP certification preferred
· Demonstrated organizational skills; including but not limited to attention to detail and multitasking, problem-solving skills, ownership of work, and strong teamwork skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
