The School of Pharmacy is increasingly relying on new technology-enhanced learning platforms and tools to support new learning delivery methods and strategies and to enable innovation and support curriculum transformation. We are looking for an Instructional Designer to join our team. In this role, you will assist in innovating the PharmD curriculum as part of the MAKK Seed Award for Innovation proposal. This includes developing new user interfaces, streamlining curriculum material, integrating different platforms, and leveraging advanced computational methods (AI/ML) to help improve students' performance on the NAPLEX exam.
NOTE: This is a part-time 50% contract position for 1 year.
The salary range for this position is $61,200 - $130,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The School of Pharmacy (SOP) has been number one in research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) every year for over four decades. We train our students to think scientifically to solve health care’s most pressing problems and to ensure that each patient receives the safest, most effective, and most cost-effective treatments available. The school is comprised of three academic departments, and one organized research unit located on both the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses. Its primary clinical training sites are located at the UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco Zuckerberg General Hospital, and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The Dean’s Office of the UCSF School of Pharmacy supports the agendas of the dean and the
School’s three departments, the ORU and their faculties, through activities in its administrative and
advisory units. The School of Pharmacy is the Academic home to approximately 71 faculty, and 701 WOS faculty. The School employees about 271 non-faculty (residents, postdocs, and students), and 220 Staff with an annual operating budget of approximately $170M.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Minimum 1 year of related experience.

Working knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.

Working knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems.
-
Working knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.

Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

Working knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of adult learning theories and education methodologies.

Working knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).

Proficiency in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.

Proficiency in analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, collaboration and negotiation skills.

Working knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
