Position Overview: We are seeking skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technicians to join a variety of healthcare teams. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient provision of pharmaceutical products and services. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with prescription filling, medication dispensing, inventory management, and maintaining accurate patient records. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to patient safety will be critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
Prescription Processing: Assist pharmacists in accurately entering and processing prescription orders.
Verify prescription information for completeness and accuracy.
Obtain necessary additional information from patients and healthcare providers as required.
Medication Dispensing: Prepare and package medications for distribution according to established protocols.
Ensure proper labeling and instructions for use are provided on medication containers.
Perform final checks to verify the accuracy and integrity of dispensed medications.
Inventory Management: Monitor medication inventory levels and assist in placing orders as needed.
Receive and verify incoming pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring proper storage and labeling.
Rotate stock and conduct regular inspections to remove expired or damaged products.
Customer Service: Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner.
Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and provide accurate information to patients or healthcare providers.
Handle customer complaints or issues, escalating to pharmacists when necessary.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient profiles, including medication histories and allergies.
Document prescription information, dispensing activities, and other relevant data in electronic or manual systems.
Comply with legal and regulatory requirements regarding record keeping and patient confidentiality.
Quality Assurance: Adhere to pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Perform routine checks and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Report any medication errors, discrepancies, or adverse events to the pharmacist immediately.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and other pharmacy staff to ensure seamless workflow and patient care.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, patients, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy practices, procedures, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and other computer applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing and medication dispensing.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle a high volume of tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 12 per week
