SUMMARY
The Facilities Staff are responsible for carrying out maintenance / janitorial tasks, set-up and strike for a wide range of school events, and report to the Director of Facilities for daily assignments and work orders. Facilities Technicians work collaboratively with Mayfield Junior School staff and faculty to help ensure smooth operations of campus facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clean facilities thoroughly and efficiently, including classrooms, offices, auditorium, library, science lab, conference rooms, work areas, lunch room, gymnasium, computer labs, hallways, restrooms and other common areas
Ability to paint offices and medium to large rooms as well as ability to recommend certain types of paint for different surfaces. Understanding the criteria for using a broad line of paint brushes and rollers
Able to diagnose and correct routine electrical and plumbing problems
Directs traffic during peak hours and for school events
Interprets drawings or sketches indicating table & chair and stage set-ups for special events on campus
Inspect rooms and identify areas that need to be cleaned or require additional or special attention, repairs etc.
Assemble furniture
Assist in event setups (tables, chairs, platforms, umbrellas, sunshades, etc.)
Remove or dispose of trash
Create work orders for items or areas needing repair or service
Perform routine inspections of exterior areas, interior areas and equipment

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Ability to interact effectively, both verbal and written, with school officials, other employees, parents and students, volunteers, visitors, and representatives from other organizations.
Ability to use of a wide variety of hand and power tools to complete assigned task
Computer skills required to be able to complete assignments using campus Event Request Systems and Work Order Systems, as well as the ability to communicate using email. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Suite is preferred.
Candidate is proactive, flexible, creative, and efficient.
Collaborative skills are a must as this job requires effective working relationships with multiple departments and individuals.
Must have a valid California State Drivers License
Bilingual-Spanish is desired but not required
High school diploma or equivalent.
5-10 years of working experience in school facilities maintenance is preferred.
Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented.
Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, able to multitask and prioritize tasks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear or read. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be able to climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job the employee works in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate and constant distractions due to constant foot traffic, phones ringing, and people talking.
