Registered Nurse - Vascular
We are seeking a committed and energetic Registered Nurse to join our team of highly skilled and patient oriented cardiac and vascular physicians. The clinician would be working in an outpatient clinic setting and would be able to provide critical and skilled nursing care to vascular patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures in a Pre-Op, Intra-Op, PACU and Office Visit setting. If you possess the following qualifications, please apply immediately: - Graduate of accredited program for Nursing BSN preferred but not required.
Education/Training:
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program. BSN preferred but not required.
- License/Certification/Registration * Valid RN license in the State of Maryland.
- CPR and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated a high level of clinical competence.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Basic computer skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Registered Nurse:
- Ensures a sterile environment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
- Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Seeks opportunities to participate in developing, revising standards of practice to meet changing patient population requirements.
- Ensures accurate documentation before, during, and after the procedure. Consistency in demonstrating effective documentation and develops strategies to ensure complete documentation of patient care.
- Instructs radiology staff and students in proper nursing procedures, isolation, venipuncture, sterile techniques, CPR, Standard Precautions, and safety.
- Maintains arterial/venous hemodynamic monitoring lines throughout the procedure.
- Provides skilled assessment of cardiac status. Monitors rhythms; records EKGs; and monitors pressure data, hemodynamic monitoring values, and standardization of equipment.
- Administers moderate sedation under the direction of a physician and recovers patients from moderate sedation.
- Performs or assists with the performance of such life-saving techniques as CPR, defibrillation, and cardioversion as needed.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. * Prepares patient and room for procedures.
- Instructs patient in pre, intra, and post-procedure care. Verifies that regulatory required patient information and signed consents have been obtained and are available in the medical record prior to the procedure.
- Assesses patient and chart to ensure readiness for the scheduled procedure.
- Notifies physicians of abnormal findings.
- Performs skilled tasks required during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including monitoring of patients, accurate input/output and retrieval of information, administration of IV therapy, and medications including procedural sedation.
- Venipuncture and blood drawing skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 Year Critical Care Experience.
- Conscious Sedation Experience.
