JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a high standard of safety, teamwork, workmanship and housekeeping.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communication in a manner that gets along with co-workers, customers and supervision.
- Must be able to move or lift products and material of varied sizes and weights, sometime in excess of 1000 pounds, being able to move and lift by hand where appropriate and being able to operate lifting machinery where appropriate.
- Facilitate the organization and staging of manufactured goods
- Setup and machine from blueprints.
- Operate all machine shop equipment which includes forklifts, overhead cranes and small hand tools.
- Ensure that machines are producing quality products by performing in process inspection on machine output.
- Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum productivity and adherence to production schedule.
- Troubleshoot any problems that may arise during machine operation.
- Set up machines to run parts per print.
- Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out when needed.
- Maintain and clean machines before or after each shift.
- Assist in other areas of the shop and warehouse when needed.
- Assist in expediting engineering and shop production, performing as directed by Shop supervision.
- Perform duties as needed and as directed by Shop supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Technical degree in area of specialty
OR
- 2-4 years of experience as a machinist or in a related area.
REQUIRED TOOLS:
The following tools are not provided by Pandjiris, Inc., and all applicants must already possess these personal tools prior to interviewing in ordered to be considered for the position:
- Standard Tool Set (required by all manufacturing positions at Pandjiris):
- Upright tool chest on wheels complete with drawers and lock.
- Set of standard and phillips head screwdrivers.
- Set of combination end wrenches from 3/8” – 3/4".
- Set of sockets from 3/8” – 3/4".
- 8” crescent wrench.
- Channel lock pliers.
- Needlenose pliers.
- Standard set of Allen wrenches.
- Machinist Tool Set (in addition to owning Standard Tool Set):
- 12” 4-piece Combination Square kit with 12” in-rule.
- Both 6” and 12” flexible steel rules with 4R graduation.
- The following sets of micrometers:
- 0-1” range micrometer with .001” graduation.
- Set of outside micrometers to 3”.
- Set of inside micrometers to 6”.
- Depth micrometer 0” – 6”.
- The following sets of gauges:
- Set of telescoping gauges up to 6”.
- Thread pitch gauge.
- 60 degree center gauge (aka “fish tail” gauge).
- Set of radius gauges.
- The following sets of wrenches:
- 12” adjustable wrench.
- Set of 12” crescent wrenches.
- Set of metric wrenches.
- The following sets of hammers:
- Set of general hammers.
- A non-marring soft face deadblow or lead hammer
- Ball-peen hammer

- A set of either dial caliphers and/or visual caliphers, with at least one 6” dial calipher.

- Both an edge finder and a center finder.

- Drill index 1/16” – 1/2".
- All required tool sets must be complete, well-maintained, in good working order and ready for use on the first day of employment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to operate to the following types of machines proficiently:
- NC and CNC machines.
- Gear hobs.
- Planers.
- Lathes (both turning and tape lathes).
- Mills (both horizontal and vertical mills).
- Drill presses.
- Milling and Machining Centers.
- Ability to proficiently use all tools in the Standard and Machinist Tool Sets as described above.
- Ability to proficiently operate a Fadal machining center.
- Ability to read a production drawing and determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Proficiency in basic math, and use of a calculator.
- Ability to read, interpret and modify CNC programs
- Must possess good time management skills.
- Must be trainable, willing to learn new skills and be willing to cross-train to different areas.
- Must be interested in a long-term career and following a career path.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5-10 years of experience as a machinist.
- Strong proficiency in operating NC/CNC lathes and mills.
- 1-3 years of experience operating machines from any of the following machine companies: Bridgeport, Fadal, Clausing-Metosa, Cintimatic, Fadal, Gould and Eberhardt, Rockford Machine Tool, and/or Rockford.
HOURS: Monday-Thursday 6:00AM-4:30PM CST, with optional Overtime available on Friday 6:00AM-4:30PM CST.
