Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient medical history and documenting relevant information
- Conduct various diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and visual field testing
- Assist ophthalmologists during procedures, including preparing surgical instruments and maintaining a sterile environment
- Administer eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens usage, and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Perform basic retail sales duties, including assisting patients in selecting eyewear and explaining lens options
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure patient satisfaction
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, equipment, and terminology
- Proficiency in conducting vision tests and interpreting results
- Familiarity with electronic medicine prescribing is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including seniors
- Ability to perform basic retail math calculations
- Knowledge of eye measurement techniques
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
