We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team. The Assistant Controller will oversee the financial operations of the Thornton, CO division, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the daily accounting operations, inventory accounting, internal controls and helping with month-end close. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Compensation:
$70,000 - $90,000 annually
Responsibilities:
As the Assistant Controller, you will perform a variety of finance and accounting functions. This position requires an experienced level of professional work and frequent interaction with all departments in the business.
Primary job responsibilities will include:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.

Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, customer invoices, and employee payroll.

Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.

Assist with month-end close activities.

Become one of the DOI power users and ensure processes are followed that maintain needed internal controls.

Research and problem-solve inventory issues to maintain accurate financial records.
Qualifications:-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Previous experience in an accounting manager, controller, and/or auditor role.

Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills.

Strong team leadership and development skills.

Organized, self-starter, hands-on accounting effort and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Excel,(VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, etc.)

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle).

Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
