Your role at MOBE
As an Instructional Designer - Learning and Development (L&D), you will lead the design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. You will evaluate our curricula and identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements within the organization. You will serve as a subject matter expert of adult learning best practices and methodologies while partnering with subject matter experts to define learning objectives for training and development needs. You will establish metrics that you will then leverage to evaluate training effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
Content Design:
- Create a narrative/flow for live or eLearning trainings and other learning experiences, drawing upon organizational understanding to be able to draw connections, reinforce key organizational messages, and generate relevant and meaningful context for the learner.
- Incorporate a variety of learning activities within all types of learning experiences, selecting activities that are both realistic for the learning experience and that drive learning outcomes.
- Conduct needs assessments as necessary to determine development needs and/or performance gaps.
- Develop and implement a plan to measure the effectiveness of learning experiences.
- Standardize and evolve our Learning Design System / SOPs (processes around intake, collaboration with team members and SMEs, standardized course design through templates and built-in best practices in adult learning theory, storyboarding, rapid prototyping, etc.)
Content Development:
- Apply the full extent of tool capabilities (e.g. PowerPoint, Articulate) in applicable presentations.
- Consider and apply presentation best practices, including a developed point of view on optimal use of speaker notes, slide design, animations, etc.
- Understand and apply industry best practices on available learning modalities, and determine the most useful modality for any given learning experience.
- Create a 'library' of options for learning engagement (world café, quizzes, polls, discussions, role plays, etc.)
- Leverage existing technology and applications to identify new and different ways to design and deliver meaningful learning experiences.
- Develop and maintain a library of resources to be leveraged by the L&D team, including Word doc template(s), PowerPoint Master Slides, Slide Library, Image Library (Photos, graphics, icons, etc.), and others as needs arise.
Learning Management System:
- Administer and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its functionality, reliability, and security.
- Develop and implement strategies for optimizing user experience, efficient operations, and learner engagement for required learnings, onboarding, and other use cases.
- Assign required learnings to new employees in a timely manner, and generate/maintain completion reports as needed.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to MOBE employees and our Board of Directors on an as needed basis.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support with the delivery of onsite training programs, such as onboarding, leadership development, and orientation, including coordination, set up, and facilitation as needed.
- Partner effectively with cross-functional teams, with respectful and timely communication.
- Undertake additional learning and development projects as assigned by the Manager of L&D, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to addressing organizational needs and a commitment to MOBE’s mission and guiding principles.
- Actively participate in the ongoing growth of the Learning & Development function, i.e. creating/updating policies and procedures, contributing to special projects, fully engaging in meetings, etc.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in L&D
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and consultation skills
- Experience developing eLearning (using Articulate, Captivate, etc.)
- Experience designing virtual and blended learning solutions
- Self-motivated, innovation-driven
Preferred:
- Experience with behavior/organizational change methodologies/principles
- Experience in a Digital Health or healthcare environment
